The idea that a career in music is not a genuine business has been refuted by award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, who calls such opinions outmoded and disrespectful.
The well-known artist, who goes by Michael Owusu Addo in private, recently responded to a query he claims he frequently receives on social media:
What do you do for a living besides music?

Like, a legitimate company?” Sarkodie claims that the way the question is phrased diminishes the scope and gravity of the music business.
He pointed out that music is one of the biggest industries in the world, producing substantial income and job opportunities in a variety of fields. He remarked, “It honestly comes off as a bit insulting,” stressing that music should be treated with the same decency as more conventional occupations.
Sarkodie went on to say that pursuing music is a smart economic decision as well as a passion-driven undertaking. It entails risks, strategic planning, and long-term investment, he noted, just like any other business. However, it may be quite fulfilling if done with discipline and the appropriate attitude.
