The king of rap music in Ghana, and the rock of African rap who have been working very hard putting Africa on the rap music globally, widely known as Sarkodie, boss of the Sarkcess Music label, has revealed very deep Secrets on why his fans have not been seeing him recently doing lot of freestyles on instrumentals as he used to do.
Sarkodie who begun his music career around 2009, as a punch for punch rap artiste, started with lot of crazy and heavy punches freestyles, especially when he was part of the Adom FM Kasahari tap show in Tema, before rising to fame.
Before he rose to fame, Sarkodie had close to 50 rap battles with great and very talented uprising Ghanaian rappers, but non of them could murder him on the microphone through the rap battle. That was the time he got the real name Obidiponbidi, because he was always killing fans with his rap delivery and punches, and what he used to won the heart of his fans was his twisting rap styles.
After been in the game over ten years, Sarkodie has finally opened up in an exclusive interview with City FM in Nigeria, why he has stop doing a lot of freestyles recently. According to Sarkodie, it’s not an easy task been a rapper by saying so many things, at different times all the time.
When asked by the host if he still write or do freestyles when working on songs, he replied that, he use to do freestyles, but after doing it for ten years he now take his time write them, so that he don’t repeat him self.
“Do you know how hard it is to rap for ten years without repeating your self? he asked and later continued ” I was a type of guy who use to write lyrics as soon as soon as I hear beat, now i take my time to write them. Is not about me getting weak, but I love perfection. The more I grow, the more I must take my time to do good music”, he said.
He continued, ” After I have been in the rap music for over ten years, I have stop making freestyles on beat, because I don’t want to repeat any of my lyrics in my songs again”.
